**Job Title:** Java Data Engineer **Role Summary:** Build, deploy, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Java and Spark. Handle real‑time streaming, ETL/ELT workflows, and microservices that support analytics and AI workloads across big data ecosystems. **Expectations:** - 5–10 years in software or data engineering. - Strong Java 8+ programming (Spring Boot preferred). - Deep experience with Spark, SQL, and at least one streaming framework (Kafka or Azure Event Hubs). - Proven ability to design data ingestion, transformation, and governance pipelines. **Key Responsibilities:** - Design and develop ingestion, transformation, and micro‑service APIs using Java, Spark, and SQL. - Implement real‑time streaming solutions with Apache Kafka or Azure Event Hubs. - Build ETL/ELT workflows that integrate structured and unstructured data sources. - Collaborate with data architects and analysts to optimize data models for analytics and reporting. - Implement data validation, lineage tracking, and governance across pipelines. - Optimize performance and reliability of distributed batch and streaming jobs. - Automate CI/CD pipelines for data workflows in partnership with DevOps. **Required Skills:** - Java 8+ (Spring Boot, core libraries). - Apache Spark (Core, SQL, Structured Streaming). - SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.). - Apache Kafka, Hadoop, Azure Data Factory, or AWS Glue. - Data lake/lakehouse architectures (Delta Lake, Iceberg). - CI/CD tools (Git, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes). - Strong problem‑solving and analytical mindset. **Nice to Have:** - Python or Scala for data engineering. - Snowflake, Databricks, or Azure Synapse experience. - Machine‑learning pipeline and MLOps knowledge. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (not explicitly required but preferred). - Relevant certifications in Java, Spark, or Hadoop are advantageous but not mandatory.
