Job Description

Job Title: Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Scientist (SME) Role Summary: Lead development, evaluation, and operational transition of advanced AI/ML solutions for mission‑critical objectives within the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense, serving as technical authority and mentor across internal and external teams. Expectations: - Deliver innovative AI/ML solutions that meet stringent technical and mission requirements. - Provide strategic guidance, coaching, and leadership for multidisciplinary research projects. - Ensure rigorous testing, validation, and readiness of AI/ML prototypes for operational integration. Key Responsibilities: - Design and implement cutting‑edge AI/ML approaches for complex, technology‑advanced challenges. - Conduct and supervise experimental validation, testing, and evaluation of AI/ML concepts. - Coordinate planning and execution of research programs, including technical exchange meetings and working groups. - Support integration and transition of research outcomes into operational environments. - Collaborate with IC and DoD partners on alignment with mission needs and technical standards. - Prepare and deliver technical briefings, documentation, and presentations to varied audiences. Required Skills: - Deep expertise in AI/ML design, deployment, and deployment lifecycle. - Proven experience in coordinating research programs, experimental validation, and evaluation. - Track record of transitioning prototypes into operational/mission environments. - Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to brief diverse audiences. - Project management skills—planning, tracking, reporting on complex technical initiatives. - Leadership in facilitating technical discussions, working groups, and cross‑disciplinary teams. Required Education & Certifications: - PhD in Computer Science or related discipline with ≥15 years experience (or MA/MS with ≥18 years or BA/BS with ≥20 years). - TS/SCI security clearance (CI Poly). - Demonstrated recognized expertise in AI/ML, including experience with emerging areas such as foundation models, multimodal learning, reinforcement learning, or trustworthy AI. - Familiarity with government R&D proposals and processes.
