Job title: Research Associate – BRaIN (Research Institute)
Role Summary:
Support Dr. Alexandre Lehmann’s cognitive neuroscience research by designing experiments, analyzing data, managing project logistics, and contributing to scientific writing and grant development within a multidisciplinary laboratory.
Expactations:
- Execute ongoing studies with rigor and independence.
- Maintain high ethical standards (TCPS 2) for human research.
- Deliver timely reports, manuscripts, and grant submissions.
- Foster collaboration with local, national, and international partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design protocols, develop models, and run simulations for neuroscience and audiology projects.
- Collect, process, and analyze biomedical signals (audiological, speech, language) using signal processing, machine learning, MATLAB, and Python.
- Manage budgets, schedule meetings, take minutes, and coordinate focus groups.
- Draft and edit grant proposals, peer‑review manuscripts, and project reports.
- Train and supervise students, recruits, and lab staff.
- Troubleshoot experimental issues and optimize study design.
- Participate in team meetings, project coordination, and general lab management.
Required Skills:
- Advanced signal processing, data mining, and machine learning.
- Proficient in MATLAB, Python, statistical analysis, and psychoacoustics.
- Knowledge of audiology or speech & language pathology.
- Experience with hospital research settings (e.g., OACIS, Nagano).
- Strong project coordination and budget management.
- Excellent scientific writing (peer‑review publications, grant writing).
- Bilingual in French and English (written and spoken).
- Self‑directed, problem‑solving, and team‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
Required Education & Certifications:
- PhD in Neuroscience (or related field).
- Minimum 5 years of post‑doctoral, research assistant, or research associate experience.
- Demonstrated ethical compliance with TCPS 2 for human research.
