Job Title: Senior Database Engineer – Asset Management
Role Summary:
Lead the design, operation, and optimization of enterprise‑grade SQL Server platforms that support investment, operations, and risk functions in a regulated asset management environment. Ensure 99.99% availability, performance, and regulatory compliance while driving automation and continuous improvement.
Expectations:
- Deliver high‑availability SQL Server solutions for production and non‑production environments.
- Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex database issues with root‑cause analysis.
- Optimize configurations and queries for low‑latency, high‑throughput workloads.
- Lead environment refreshes, data replication, and disaster recovery testing.
- Automate routine tasks using PowerShell, T‑SQL, or equivalent scripting.
- Mentor junior staff and foster a culture of technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage HA clusters, Always On Availability Groups, and failover procedures.
- Monitor performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies.
- Apply patches, manage upgrades, and enforce configuration standards per change‑control and regulatory policies.
- Design and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery plans; schedule and test failover scenarios.
- Coordinate data replication and environment refreshes across dev, UAT, and prod.
- Develop and maintain documentation, runbooks, and audit‑ready procedures.
- Collaborate with application developers, platform engineering, and cybersecurity teams to deliver secure, scalable solutions.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
Required Skills:
- Extensive Microsoft SQL Server administration in financial or asset‑management settings.
- Deep knowledge of HA architectures (clusters, Always On), replication, and performance tuning.
- Experience with front‑to‑back trading or investment systems (e.g., Endur) is highly desirable.
- Strong documentation, compliance, and audit‑readiness practices.
- Ability to automate with PowerShell, T‑SQL, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with cloud‑hosted database services (Azure SQL, AWS RDS) and modern infra tools.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or similar SQL Server certification preferred.
- Certifications in security or compliance (e.g., CISSP, CISA) are a plus.
