Novelab designs and creates captivating, interactive and immersive stories.

Novelab mainly works in the areas of culture, entertainment, marketing/communication and industry.

We are a cross-over between a technological start-up and a content creator in the sense that most of our projects involve some degree of technology combined with a special care for narration and story developments. Novelab focuses on combining technology and meaningful stories to craft immersive and engaging experiences.

Thanks to our engineer backgrounds, we use our cutting-edge knowledge and technologies to further develop indutrial solutions to solve real-life problems.

Novelab develops original projects like TYPE:RIDER or the VR projects NOTES ON BLINDNESS & SPHERES. For such projects, we developed specific tools and technologies related to interactivity, sound and visuals. Novelab clients include companies such as Meta, Google, Oculus, Sony, LVMH, Hermes or Publicis.

Many Novelab projets have been selected and awarded at festivals such as Sundance (2016,2018, 2021 & 2022 ), Tribeca Film Festival (2016, 2017, 2018 & 2022), Sheffield (2016 & 2017), Venise, Arles (2017), etc.

The Company runs with 60+ employees and is managed by 2 partners : Alexandre Ney & Clément Chériot.

Job Description
**Job Title:** VR Developer (Freelance) **Role Summary:** Design, develop, and optimize immersive XR experiences for standalone and tethered headsets using Unreal Engine. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑performance real‑time applications and contribute to internal tool architecture. **Expectations:** - Deliver clean, maintainable code within project timelines. - Prototype rapidly and iterate based on creative and technical feedback. - Maintain comprehensive documentation and participate in code reviews. - Ensure performance, scalability, and cross‑platform compatibility. **Key Responsibilities:** - Implement interactive features and tools in C++ and Blueprints. - Integrate 3D assets, UI, animations, and VFX into real‑time environments. - Optimize XR applications for various headsets (Quest, Vision Pro, Pico, Vive, etc.). - Collaborate with Design, 3D, Audio, UX, and QA teams to streamline pipelines. - Contribute to the architecture and scalability of internal frameworks and tools. - Support integration of network layers, data, or APIs as needed. **Required Skills:** - Proficient in Unreal Engine 4/5 development (C++ & Blueprints). - Experience with XR devices and real‑time optimization (memory management, performance tuning). - Familiarity with version control systems (Git, Perforce) and agile workflows. - Strong communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving abilities. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Degree in Computer Science, Game Development, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. - Minimum 3 years of professional Unreal/Unity XR development experience. *(Optional/Bonus skills: Node.js/Python/React, native mobile development (Android, iOS), additional XR platform knowledge.)*
