Job Description
**Job Title** Infrastructure Inspection & Rope Access Operative **Role Summary** Provide detailed inspections of civil infrastructure such as railway bridges, highway structures, and other critical assets. Perform rope‑access operations to reach challenging locations, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and deliver accurate inspection reports to support asset owners. **Expectations** - Deliver inspections on schedule while adhering to safety and quality standards. - Maintain and operate rope‑access equipment and inspection tools. - Document findings, produce reports, and recommend maintenance actions. - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on safety reviews and competency assessments. - Continuously update knowledge of industry regulations and inspection best practices. **Key Responsibilities** - Conduct routine and detailed structural inspections of railway bridges, highway structures, and other infrastructure assets. - Perform rope‑access tasks (abseiling, suspended access) to reach high or confined areas. - Assess and record the condition of structural components, access systems, and safety features. - Prepare and submit comprehensive inspection reports and incident documentation. - Support the competency assessment of rope‑access personnel and assist in training delivery. - Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and asset‑management meetings. - Maintain inspection equipment, rope‑access gear, and safety devices in operational condition. **Required Skills** - Proficient rope‑access techniques; strong physical fitness and safety awareness. - Analytical ability to evaluate structural integrity and identify defects. - Clear communication for reporting and collaboration with stakeholders. - Problem‑solving skills for on‑site challenges and dynamic environments. - Team‑oriented mindset with the ability to work independently when required. **Required Education & Certifications** - IRATA Level 1–3 qualification (Level 1 operative, Level 2 operative, or Level 3 supervisor as appropriate). - Relevant structural inspection certification such as STE4 or equivalent for highway/railway structures. - Health and Safety Executive (HSE) safety training or equivalent. - Minimum of Year 11 education (or equivalent) with strong mathematical and technical aptitude.
