Job Description
Job title: Legal Adviser (Contract and Litigation) Role Summary: Mid‑level in‑house legal adviser responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts; providing litigation support; managing internal policy documents; supervising a junior legal staff; and advising on regulatory compliance including competition, procurement, and data protection laws. Expectations: Deliver commercially focused legal advice, ensure contractual and regulatory compliance, facilitate dispute resolution, and support business units on contract and procurement matters. Key Responsibilities: - Draft, review, and negotiate supplier agreements, NDAs, partnership agreements, and other commercial contracts. - Coordinate with external solicitors for specialist matters and litigation, including dispute resolution and court proceedings. - Lead drafting, maintenance, and updating of internal policy documents to align with legal and regulatory requirements. - Review tender documentation and provide legal feedback to the Tenders Team. - Respond to customer contract queries and manage contractual complaints. - Liaise with regulatory bodies (e.g. ICO, CMA) on compliance matters. - Supervise and mentor a junior legal team member, ensuring quality and efficiency. Required Skills: - Minimum 2 years of commercial legal experience (in‑house or private practice). - Proficiency in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements and NDAs. - Knowledge of competition law, procurement law, and basic data protection laws (UK GDPR, DPAs). - Strong written and verbal communication skills with a solution‑oriented approach. - Ability to supervise and mentor junior staff. Required Education & Certifications: - Qualified solicitor or solicitor‑candidate in the UK (or equivalent legal qualification). - LLB or LLB (Hons) and completion of the Professional Training Course (PTC) or equivalent.
