Job Description

Job title: Staff Software Engineer Role summary: Design, build, and maintain highly scalable, reliable systems for a fintech platform serving millions of users. Lead architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and drive fast, data-informed product delivery. Expectations: Deliver impactful features that improve financial wellbeing; own system performance, scalability, and reliability; guide team members in coding and architectural best practices; collaborate with cross‑functional squads focused on outcome over process. Key responsibilities: • Design and implement scalable backend and frontend components (Python, TypeScript, React, Svelte). • Lead architectural decisions and select appropriate patterns for complex problems. • Mentor engineers, review code, and uphold quality standards. • Ship features quickly, measure impact, and iterate based on user and performance data. • Collaborate with data, product, and operations teams to align technical solutions with business goals. Required skills: • Senior to staff‑level experience designing and operating distributed systems at scale. • Strong backend expertise with Python and PostgreSQL, plus proficiency in at least one frontend technology (React or Svelte) or data (Snowflake). • Proficiency with AWS cloud services. • Deep understanding of scalability, reliability, and performance engineering. • Ability to simplify problems and identify when to adopt complex solutions. • Excellent mentoring, communication, and teamwork abilities.
