**Job title:** Head of Data & Analytics (Hands‑on)
**Role Summary:**
Lead and advance the end‑to‑end data and analytics function for a rapidly scaling fintech. Own the modern data stack (AWS, Snowflake, dbt, CI/CD) and drive its reliability, performance, and governance while directly delivering high‑impact analytics and ML use‑cases. Combine technical hands‑on work with tactical team leadership and close collaboration with business stakeholders.
**Expectations:**
- 8‑10 + years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or business intelligence.
- Demonstrated experience leading a small technical team (e.g., tech‑lead, manager).
- Ability to stay hands‑on (SQL, dbt, data modeling) while providing strategic direction.
- Strong business acumen to translate business needs into data solutions.
- Adaptable to a high‑growth, evolving environment and committed to long‑term ownership.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. Manage and mentor a two‑person data team (DBA and Data Engineer), fostering autonomy and prioritization.
2. Maintain and enhance the existing data stack: ensure data quality, performance, and enforce governance.
3. Own the end‑to‑end understanding of complex, multi‑source data with high dimensionality.
4. Design and maintain data lineage and centralize institutional knowledge.
5. Collaborate directly with product and business teams to capture requirements and deliver high‑value use‑cases.
6. Prior‑rank and drive business‑impacting analytics projects (e.g., segmentation, personalization, basic ML models).
7. Contribute hands‑on to key technical work: SQL, dbt modeling, architecture review, code review.
**Required Skills:**
- Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, and modern data pipeline tooling.
- Experience with AWS ecosystem, Snowflake, dbt, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
- Strong data modeling, data architecture, and data‑governance expertise.
- Hands‑on experience with analytics/BI tools and basic machine‑learning techniques.
- Excellent communication for interacting with both technical and business stakeholders.
- Pragmatic, collaborative, and able to operate in a fast‑changing environment.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Professional certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics, Snowflake SnowPro, dbt certification) are advantageous but not mandatory.
