**Job title:** Global Head of Physical Security
**Role Summary:**
Lead the strategic delivery, governance, and continuous improvement of physical security across a global data centre network. Ensure security design, construction, operation, and lifecycle management meet statutory, regulatory, and industry standards, while balancing value, risk, and compliance.
**Expectations:**
- Drive end‑to‑end physical security strategy at a global scale.
- Translate regulatory requirements into actionable design controls.
- Maintain a high‑performance security team and collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, design, legal, and technology stakeholders.
- Deliver measurable performance through KPIs and reporting.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Develop and maintain the Global Reference Design (GRD) for physical security, aligning with corporate objectives and client requirements.
- Lead enterprise‑wide threat and risk assessments; translate findings into design and operational plans.
- Ensure security alignment with evolving national and international legislation (UK, EU, NIS2, NPSA, NIST).
- Govern design, implementation, and lifecycle management of physical security controls across all facilities.
- Partner with Design & Engineering teams to embed security principles during design, build, and construction phases.
- Provide SME input and approvals for construction milestones, risk identification, and cost/risk balance.
- Coordinate with Project Management on secure delivery of global projects.
- Liaise with Technology, Legal & Compliance, HR, Facilities, and external stakeholders (customers, investors, regulators, law enforcement, auditors) to ensure compliance and incident response.
- Identify and report on KPIs demonstrating effective security implementation.
- Build and lead a high‑performing security team; foster accountability and innovation.
**Required Skills:**
- Minimum 10 years leading security design and implementation on large, high‑security construction projects.
- Deep knowledge of security design principles, protective technologies, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Experience in defence, government, or critical infrastructure environments.
- Strong understanding of UK and European security standards and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for high‑quality presentations.
- Willingness to travel internationally as required.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Relevant professional project management qualification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) or security credential (e.g., CISSP, GSS) preferred but not mandatory.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Security Management, or related field.
