Job Title: Engineering Consultant – Earthworks & Cost Estimation
Role Summary: Provide technical, economic, and logistical expertise to prepare winning bids for earthworks and related civil engineering projects. Lead cost estimation, technical analysis, and project planning to ensure high-quality, profitable proposals.
Expectations: Deliver accurate, competitive bids within defined timelines; maintain strict adherence to safety regulatory standards; collaborate closely with bid, technical, and field teams; demonstrate self‑direction and innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse client requirements, technical data, and market dynamics to define project scope and operating modes.
- Prepare detailed activity cost estimates, including labour, materials, machinery, and overheads.
- Evaluate technical options, select equipment and materials considering regulatory, cost, and performance constraints.
- Develop and refine financial and technical offers, proposing variants and value‑engineering options.
- Design project organization, construction methodologies, schedules, and resource plans.
- Compile bid dossiers (technical brief, subcontractor information, methodology) to support tender submissions.
- Finalise optimal technical solutions to maximise profitability while meeting quality and safety standards.
- Establish execution conditions and coordinate with project management for effective implementation.
- After contract award, plan site activities, coordinate stakeholders, and manage material logistics.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental (SSE) procedures, policies, and regulations.
Required Skills:
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proven experience in cost estimation and technical evaluation.
- Proficiency in project management and BIM tools: Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, Mensura, Covadis, Pentagone.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to produce clear technical documents.
- Strong organizational, planning, and coordination abilities.
- Ability to work independently, propose innovative solutions, and drive projects forward.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree (Bac+2) with at least 5 – 7 years of relevant experience in the civil engineering or public works sector.
- Preferably a graduate degree (Bac+5) or engineering school qualification, with at least 2 years in a similar cost estimator/engineering role in earthworks.
- Familiarity with French construction regulations and sector standards is advantageous.
