Data Center Repair Manager
Job Description
**Job Title:** Data Center Repair Manager **Role Summary:** Lead and manage 24/7 break‑fix operations for server, storage, and network hardware in enterprise data centers. Provide advanced diagnostics, oversee hardware repairs, ensure SLA compliance, and mentor a technical team while coordinating with OEM vendors and cross‑functional groups. **Expectations:** - Rotational shift coverage (day/night) for 24/7/365 support. - Up to 10 % domestic and international travel between data‑center sites. - Physical ability to lift 50 lb regularly (occasionally 100 lb) and perform standard data‑center tasks. - Maintain documentation, safety, and compliance with operational procedures. **Key Responsibilities:** - Direct break‑fix activities, prioritize tickets, and meet SLA targets. - Perform CLI‑based diagnostics (Cisco IOS/NX‑OS, Linux shell, iDRAC/iLO). - Execute component‑level hardware repairs and replacements. - Troubleshoot Layer 1‑3 network issues (port failures, link flaps, misconfigurations). - Manage OEM RMA processes, warranty claims, and parts logistics. - Create and update incident, root‑cause, and repair documentation. - Mentor junior technicians and enforce best‑practice and safety standards. - Support infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and maintenance windows. - Contribute to development and improvement of MOPs/CMOPs. **Required Skills:** - 5+ years break‑fix and hardware repair experience in enterprise environments. - Strong CLI proficiency (Cisco, Linux/Unix, iDRAC, iLO). - Deep knowledge of server, storage, and network hardware. - Familiarity with network tools/protocols (ping, traceroute, netstat, SNMP, syslog). - Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and leadership abilities. - Ability to work under pressure in high‑availability settings. - Valid driver’s license. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Associate degree or higher in a technical discipline, or equivalent hands‑on experience. - Preferred certifications: CompTIA Server+, Cisco CCNA, Dell EMC, or comparable vendor credentials. - Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Remedy) and basic scripting (Bash, Python) is advantageous.
