**Job Title**
Senior Principal Engineer
**Role Summary**
Architect, design, and deliver large‑scale, highly available infrastructure platforms. Serve as a technical lead across multiple teams, driving engineering best practices, mentoring DevOps staff, and ensuring performance, reliability, security, and cost efficiency of DNS and cloud‑based services.
**Expectations**
- Own end‑to‑end architecture for cross‑functional DNS infrastructure initiatives.
- Mentor and elevate design quality of DevOps and engineering teams.
- Lead evolution of automation, monitoring, and reliability practices to maintain 100% service availability.
- Partner with product, support, security, and IT stakeholders to shape roadmaps and reduce technical risk.
- Serve as senior escalation point for critical incidents, performing root‑cause analysis and driving improvements.
- Evaluate, champion, and document adoption of key technologies and tools (Java/Go services, cloud, DNS, networking, CI/CD).
- Represent infrastructure engineering in cross‑functional forums, architecture councils, and customer/partner interactions.
- Improve release management, incident response, capacity planning, and operational readiness.
- Document and refine standard operating procedures and system documentation.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. Design, review, and guide implementation of DNS and cloud infrastructure architectures.
2. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to DevOps Engineers.
3. Drive platform evolution: automation, monitoring, observability, and reliability.
4. Resolve complex scalability and reliability issues; lead long‑term remediation.
5. Participate in on‑call rotations, troubleshoot incidents, and conduct post‑mortem improvements.
6. Champion adoption of new technologies, tooling, and frameworks; produce clear documentation.
7. Represent infrastructure requirements in architecture councils and cross‑functional discussions.
8. Own and refine release management, incident management, capacity planning, and operational readiness processes.
9. Maintain and improve SOPs, system documentation, and knowledge bases.
**Required Skills**
- Expertise in CI/CD pipeline design and zero‑touch provisioning.
- Proficiency with AWS (EC2, IAM, VPC, etc.) and cloud automation tools (Terraform, Packer).
- Deep knowledge of DNS, BGP, and Linux system administration (CPU, memory, disk, network).
- Strong performance tuning and forensic troubleshooting abilities.
- Experience building observability stacks and custom monitoring dashboards.
- Advanced scripting/automation in Bash, Python, Ansible, Terraform, Packer.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and high‑availability architecture.
- Leadership experience on multi‑team initiatives, influencing without direct authority.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to author design documents and present technical concepts.
- Commitment to operational excellence, security, and continuous improvement.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, or similar) are preferred but not mandatory.
