Process & Structure Monitoring R&D Engineer (F/M)
Role Summary
Design, develop, and implement industrial monitoring systems for processes and structures. Conduct laboratory and field trials, analyze data to assess process capability, qualify monitoring technologies, and present findings. Stay current on emerging methods and integrate multidisciplinary expertise (metallurgy, composites, simulation, robotics, control) to support R&D projects.
Expactations
Deliver end‑to‑end monitoring solutions within industrial constraints, manage multiple projects concurrently, and communicate results to technical and non‑technical audiences. Maintain a proactive stance on new technologies, contribute to R&D strategy, and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Conceptualize and design monitoring devices for industrial processes and structural health.
- Develop sensor arrays, signal conditioning, and data acquisition hardware (e.g., NI, HBM).
- Program control and data processing interfaces (Python, C, LabVIEW, Dash).
- Execute laboratory experiments and field tests with industrial partners.
- Analyze sensor data to optimize process performance and evaluate capability.
- Validate and qualify monitoring technologies for industrial deployment.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations.
- Keep abreast of emerging monitoring methods, evaluate applicability, and propose innovations.
- Integrate multidisciplinary tools (metrology, simulation, robotics) into monitoring solutions.
Required Skills
- Expertise in physical measurement and instrumentation (ultrasound, optical, thermal, pressure).
- Proficient with signal conditioning, acquisition, and metrology.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (OPC‑UA, TCP/IP, Modbus, IoT).
- Strong programming skills in Python, C/C++, LabVIEW, and IHM/UX tools.
- Experience designing hardware data acquisition systems.
- Familiarity with metal and composite manufacturing processes.
- Ability to perform statistical data analysis and process capability studies.
- Experience with non‑destructive testing methods is advantageous.
- Excellent written and oral communication in English and French.
- Self‑driven, organized, and capable of multi‑project delivery.
Required Education & Certifications
- Engineer’s degree or Ph.D. in Physical Measurements, Materials & Processes, or a related field.
- Demonstrated industrial experience integrating monitoring systems into production or maintenance environments.
